I only work evening shifts and this Monday morning, I received a call from the morning staff. They asked me if I sold four omelette sandwiches to go on Saturday evening which I denied.
  • 04
Apparently, this gentleman came in furious because his wife came on Saturday and ordered the four sandwiches and asked for NO tomato but they ended up having tomato.
  • 05
The whole family is allergic to tomato so they had to throw them away and he demands a refund. The thing is, business has been slow lately and I clearly remember only selling three sandwiches to three different people

on Saturday. I'm the only person working in the evening, so no other people to check with. There's just absolutely no way it was our shop. He was adamant on the refund but he didn't have the receipt, and as I said,

I did not receive such an order. He then threatened with suing. Apparently, he was from another city and had to catch a train that very morning so he was stressed. My coworkers

managed to calm him down, gave him a contact info and asked him to check details with his wife, because again, there was no way it was our shop. I'm confident he just got the wrong shop, being from another city and all

that but, by god, he had me stressed on a Monday morning. For now, there's no news from him so I hope he has cleared it up with his wife.

Edit to add: thank you all for the scam warnings. I'll keep it in mind and I'll be more carefull about it. I would thank you all individually but for some reason it gives me anxiety lol so thank you for your comments!

Top-Turnip-4057. 5 days ago Dude, it was just a scam. No one ordered them, just trying to get a quick hit of cash with a bit of bluster. Good no one caved.

horsefarm 4 days ago . Had a former acquaintance who did stuff like this ALL the time. She would ask for our fast food or restaurant receipts, go back to the spot and just be loud and angry so as not to be questioned, demanding a replacement for whatever reason. Awful.

ranhayes 4 days ago I had something similar happen back in 1991 lol. God that was a long time ago. I was the assistant manager at an obscure burger franchise in Wichita, KS. A guy called the store saying he ordered through the drive thru

and for whatever reason I needed to remake his burgers or give him a refund. I told him it didn't happen because I was the only person working and had not had a customer in over 3 hours. He still tried to argue with me.

KermieKona 5 days ago No one sues over 4 sandwiches for which they have no receipt (proof) of the transaction. Just sayin...

DVDragOnIn 5 days ago If someone threatens you with suing and they have no receipt, they're just trying to get free stuff. Can't win a law suit if you can't prove your case. Probably wasn't catching a train either...

Hafthohlladung. 4 days ago Reminds me of a time back in the day where I was working retail. This lady wanted a refund for the faulty hubcaps we sold her that came off on the highway. I asked if she had the hubcaps... no, they flew off. I asked if she had the packaging... nope, threw it out. I asked if she had the receipt... of course not.

I just asked her... so you just want me to give you cash from the till???? Some people...

The_Sparklehouse - 4 days ago A valid and safe response to the threat of a lawsuit is to end all conversation and refer them to the legal department (even if you don't have one). People like to bluff with that only to be amazed when you take them seriously and send them to the lawyers

lpind 4 days ago It's like that person who orders something which isn't on the menu and insists they had it "last time", or even has it "every time" - , I've worked here for 5 years and that has never been on the menu, not had anyone ever ask for it before, nor have I ever seen you before. You don't know where you are.

Time to check yourself into a home! I understand how frustrating that scenario is though; someone set up a fake "takeaway" type website/app awhile ago (think DoorDash/Just Eat etc.) and

just copied all the details from a bunch of local restaurants' websites. We had a couple of phone calls from people demanding refunds because we didn't deliver their food. We don't offer delivery. We don't partner with that company. We can't refund you because we don't have your money; you need to contact them/the police/your bank and report the fraud!
